ENACT will drive research and innovation activities across three key areas:

Natural Language Processing and Large Multimodal Models
Natural language processing and large multimodal AI models, which make it possible to aggregate all available data (text, images, signals, etc.) and knowledge within a company or a given sector, and which lie at the heart of next-generation AI technologies.

AI for Engineering and Scientific Discovery
To accelerate the discovery of new materials and medicines, as well as innovation and industrialisation processes, for a more sustainable future.

Digital Health
Digital health, aimed at advancing personalised medicine and supporting patients, physicians and healthcare professionals throughout the care pathway.
18 Research and Innovation Chairs
ENACT will fund 18 Research and Innovation Chairs, along with an International Chairs programme. It will strengthen the international recruitment of researchers and faculty members, more than double the number of PhD candidates in AI, and achieve a comparable increase in CIFRE doctoral projects and funding secured through national and European research programmes.
The objective is to foster major methodological and technological advances in AI, notably through the dissemination of open large multimodal language models, which will form the foundation of tomorrow’s innovations.
More broadly, the aim is to establish a benchmark framework for responsible research and innovation, bringing together researchers and faculty members in AI and other disciplines (linguistics, chemistry, physics, biology, medicine, law, economics, philosophy, education sciences, etc.), as well as businesses, public institutions and citizens.
